HEALTHCARE INSIGHTS
- A community-based study conducted during the Tigray War reported a maternal mortality ratio (MMR) of 840 per 100,000 live births, a substantial increase from the pre-war level of 186 per 100,000. The leading causes of maternal deaths were hemorrhage (8%), pregnancy-induced hypertension (8.4%), and accidents (5.6%).
