NAMPULA

Nampula, the capital city of Nampula Province in northern Mozambique, is the third-largest city in the country, with an estimated population of 1 million. The city serves as a major regional center, linking the port city of Nacala with landlocked Southern African countries, particularly Malawi, through road and railway networks.

HEALTHCARE INSIGHTS

• Malaria: In 2022, Nampula Province reported approximately three million malaria cases, an increase from 2.6 million in 2021. However, malaria-related deaths decreased from 67 in 2021 to 58 in 2022.
